Tour Plan
Azul, Asalamu Alaykum. Welcome to Morocco. Your journey will be commenced in a great way when wandering around the old medina and city walls. Afterward, you will be visiting Quartier Habous, the new medina, where we will walk from one souk to another.
After breakfast, we will be heading to Hassan II Mosque. A guided tour will be provided. This Mosque was built in 1993 by more than 6,000 craftsmen. The Hassan II Mosque is one of the only mosques that foreigners can visit in Morocco. Afterward, we will depart to Meknes. We will do a short visit to the city (e.g., doors, Bab El Mansour and Bab El Khamis, Mausoleum of Moulay Ismaïl). Later, a visit to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, enjoy a guided tour of these epic Roman ruins. Afterwards, continue towards Moulay Idriss, Holy City, astonishing site built on two rock pitons. Here, you’ll witness a demonstration of the art of mint tea making – this sweet treat is a Moroccan specialty. Spend the night here.
After breakfast, a private transfer will be provided to Chefchaouen, a beautiful blue and white-washed Andalusian town nestled in the Rif Mountains. The town is a relaxed town, with small winding alleyways and market squares, where the women of the surrounding Rif come to sell their handmade products. Chefchaouen is a gorgeous place to spend the day wandering.
You will never have enough of this city. It is highly advisable to wake up early so the whole city is yours for some good photos. This day in Chefchaouen is your day to choose how to spend it. You may take a guided tour in the city, wandering in its blue streets and trying a freshly squeezed orange juice as it's their specialty, or make it more enjoyable by getting out of the town and enjoying a hike and picnic in the surrounding mountains. The hiking option is very popular, as you can head to Akchour falls. The lush green landscape surrounding Akchour creates a stunning backdrop for this spectacular natural wonder. The nighttime can be great if you have a tagine with some fresh fruits.
We travel to Morocco's most fascinating city and the world's last surviving Medieval city of Fes. We will be doing a tour to the city and its souks, stopping at the gateway of the royal palace and the 9th-century Karouine Mosque and University. You will visit the tomb of the city founder, Moulay Idris II. Alternatively, Fes is a shopping heaven for those wanting to pick up a souvenir.
Being lost in Fes will be too much fun; it is part of the trip. A local guide will be provided in order to get to know the hidden parts of the city. Look out for the Medersa Bou Inania, one of the city's coolest buildings, recently restored and now open to visitors. When in Fes, visiting the famous tannery and dye pits is a must. This tannery is one of the most iconic sights in Morocco, operating since time immemorial. It is one of the largest tanneries where skins and hides are being processed in order to make leather for human use.
Well, it is highly important to mention that a long drive is waiting for us. After breakfast, we make our way towards the rolling dunes of the Sahara Desert. Make sure you find a way to spend the 8-hour drive. Upon arriving in Merzouga, drop your bags off at the overnight camp. Camels will be your means of transportation. The night will be spent in a camp. You will be provided with a thin mattress, blanket, and a sheet. Make sure you bring some warm clothes as it is extremely cold during nighttime. Get ready to spend a beautiful, amazing night.
Today’s goal is to wake up early so you can catch the sunrise. It will be an interesting morning to experience the start of the day in the Sahara Desert. After that, we will have breakfast and then head to Todra. On your way, you will see the real meaning of heaven on earth. The landscape is incredible. The valley is very impressive, with palm trees and mud villages that take your breath away. Check in at your hotel. After resting for a while, a hike might be possible into the gorge.
On our way to Ait Benhaddou, we will pass the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, enjoying the Dades Road path. What is special about this day is that we will be learning more about the culture, sharing happy moments with Berber families in the villages. Late in the afternoon, we will be arriving at Ait Benhaddou. For some of you, this place might look familiar as many famous movies were filmed here such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and many others. There will be a short walk in the old town. The night will be spent in this town.
After taking our breakfast, we will be heading toward Marrakech, taking the Tizi N Tichka road, which is one of the most interesting roads in Morocco. Late in the afternoon, we will be arriving in Marrakech. As it is late, no activities are planned. It is your choice to get lost in Jemaa el-Fna square. The place is known for its active concentration of traditional activities by storytellers, musicians, and performers.
After your breakfast, we will be doing a guided tour in Marrakech, starting with its old medina and exploring the souks. Trying some savories, biscuits, and fresh fruits is part of our tour experience. Marrakech has endless activities, so you might be confused about where to start, but here are some tips. Jardin de Majorelle, designed by a French artist, is one option. The gardens and buildings form a complex where specific buildings are dedicated to various museums and exhibits of interest to visitors. The gardens, which cover two and a half acres, are open to the public daily and house an important collection of cacti and sculptures. Another choice is to take a cycling trip in the streets of the city. Quad biking is an interesting option to consider. Late at night, it is highly advisable to come back to Jemaa el-Fna square.
Today is a special day to discover Moroccan cuisine as we will attend a cooking class to learn how some traditional dishes are being prepared. This opportunity will ensure that you can let your beloved ones back home taste some Moroccan cuisine.
